H.B. Neild Construction Director of Safety Quais “Q” Savoir has been named president of the Sabine Neches Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).
Savoir considers the position an honor, because of ASSP’s ongoing efforts heightening the awareness of safety professionals, especially the younger generation, and enhancing community involvement around the realm of safety.
Savoir became involved with ASSP approximately six years ago when he began serving in leadership positions at H.B. Neild.
“Community involvement is a huge resource to use, especially when you need to build safety execution plans for different clients,” Savoir recalls.
“ASSP was a huge component in that, especially client relations. Many have been members of ASSP for years. ASSP helps with those resources.”
H.B. Neild Construction President Thomas Neild Jr. commended Savoir for his commitment beyond the typical 9-to-5 requirements, saying it’s his nature to advocate for all construction safety efforts, whether or not they relate to a specific H.B. Neild project.
“We want the team members at H.B. Neild to serve as industry leaders and advocates across Southeast Texas and beyond,” Neild added.
“Q (Savoir) is the type of person who looks out for the individual and routinely gives of his time to benefit others.”
As chapter president, Savoir wants to continue one-to-one connections with all members, so assistance can be provided in a proactive manner. Fully training team members before they hit the field is a priority across safety circles.
“When I became a husband, I wanted to serve my wife,” Savoir says. “When I became a father, I wanted to serve my daughter. When I became a soldier, I wanted to serve my country. When I became the director of safety, I wanted to serve H.B. Neild.
“Now the opportunity has come to be the president of ASSP. The goal is to continue that service. You must collaborate with other organizations within this area to better serve the community. We can all use the resources. We all need them.”
