H.B. Neild team members working on site for Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 construction in Sabine Pass were recently honored with an Environmental Guardian Program award.
The recognition highlights H.B. Neild for its exemplary work maintaining compliance with environmental standards.
H.B. Neild’s worksite was recognized for being well organized, which leads to fewer trips and hazards and a safer workplace environment.
The crew follows the project’s hazardous material storage plan and properly segregates fuel and chemicals.
The recognition program started in January, and H.B. Neild’s award in May was the first for a subcontractor on site.
Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 calls for the construction of a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal. Company officials say the Phase 1 facility is designed for two natural gas liquefaction trains, two liquified natural gas storage tanks and associated facilities with a nameplate capacity of approximately 13 million tonnes per annum.
Port Arthur LNG is a joint venture between Sempra Infrastructure and Conoco Phillips.
Carl Certa serves as the H.B. Neild SSHE (Safety, Security, Health and Environmental) official on site. He is assisted by SSHE Brandon Daniels.
Certa stressed that working under rigorous on-site safety protocols was standard for H.B. Neild because of the project’s unique features, which include location near the Sabine-Neches ship channel and extensive FERC permitting.
During the recent recognition ceremony on site, H.B. Neild team members Brent Price, Chris Richard, Jaime Villanueva and Certa were joined by their partners from the CIMA civil group.
Certa credited the entire crew for working well with supervisors and fostering a great safety culture.
